Mahoning County Junior Fair

Welcome to 2021! We have been working on plans and updates for a better year. We decided it would be easier to plan Quality Assurance online to get the requirements completed. Those wishing to take the test should have contacted the extension office to rsvp but may still do so by emailing smith.11958@osu.edu to request a testing time. The test will be Monday, February 15.

VIRTUAL Quality Assurance Training Registration

What is Quality Assurance? Quality Assurance is a mandate of the Ohio Department of Agriculture which teaches the youth how to raise quality animals and assure that the products the animal produces will be of the highest quality.

Who needs to attend:

Each youth planning to exhibit one of the following animals: Market Livestock; Market Swine, Market Lambs, Market Beef, Feeders, Market Rabbits, Market Poultry & Market, Boer and Dairy Goats (All Dairy Breeds including Nigerian Dwarf & Kinders), Dairy Cattle, Beef Breeding & Sheep Breeding in the Mahoning County Junior Fair and at least one parent/legal guardian of the youth must attend a Mahoning County Quality Assurance Program. Youth who have tested out of Quality Assurance do not need to attend any of these trainings and can ignore this message.

In 2021, ALL Mahoning County Quality Assurance Trainings will be virtual. The trainings will be held on the following dates.

 

Each youth and parent/guardian need to attend ONE training:

Tuesday, February 16th 6:30pm – 8:00pm

Saturday, March 6th 10am – 11:30am

Tuesday, March 16th 6:30pm – 8:00pm

Tuesday, March 30th 6:30pm – 8:00pm

Tuesday, April 13th 6:30pm – 8:00pm

All paperwork will be available online at www.mcjrfair.com and at specie meetings. The first specie meeting will be held February 24 for Rabbits, Poultry and Goats , and February 25 for Market Lambs, Swine, Beef, Feeders, and Beef Breeding. See the calendar at mcjrfair.com for more details.
